How did you join WVR?
I joined WVR after doing the muddy woody 6, up to this point I was really just running for pleasure with some friends from Archways gym, but I thought if I was to improve at all the way forward was to join a club.

How long have you been a member of WVR?
I have been a member now for eight years.

What is your favourite training run?
My favourite training runs were Haugh Wood on a Sunday morning as the pace was easy going and the chit chat good, although I now found it hard to get there for 8 on a Sunday morning.

What is your favourite race and why?
My favourite race would have to be the London Marathon, not because of the enjoyment factor but because of the money I have managed to raise for the NSPCC with a work colleague over the 5 times I have done it.

What is your favourite terrain, road runs or off road?
My prefered terrain would be the road as I find it is much easier to keep a pace going than off road.

What are your PB?
I am not really into the PB thing as my best years have probably passed me by, but was quite chuffed with my 44.43 for Swansea Bay 10k last year.

How do you prepare for a race?
My preperation for races is probably what lets me down, I always convince myself I have done enough training When I haven’t then go and blow any chance I had in the pub the night before.

Who do you like training with?
I like training with anybody as I really enjoy the cameradery.

Who or what is your running inspiration?
I would consider my best achievement so far raising £60,000 + for the NSPCC with a friend over my 5 years of London Marathons.
When it comes to celebrating a PB it’s into the pub for a few, come to think of it, it’s into the pub anyway PB or not.

Tell our readers something they probably don’t know about you!
I didn’t start running till my early forties when I decided that being over weight and unfit  wasn’t a good idea and sice joining the club I have made many friends who have helped me through some tough times. I hope to continue running for a good while yet.
