Sam and Danca Secure Victory in Gord’s 6 Race

Sam Mayglothling of Croft Ambrey was a convincing winner of the the Gord’s 6 race run over a scenic but demanding Fownhope course. Sam’s time of 46.24 was over 2 minutes ahead of second placed Matte Taylor of Hereford Couriers 48.41 with Steven Flowers of Wye Valley Runners finishing third in a time of 49.01.

Danca Machackova of Wye Valley Runners was an equally convincing winner of the ladies race in a time of 57.17. Lisa Ruck also of Wye Valley Runners finished second in a time of 59.30  with Tracey Miles of Hereford Couriers fighting off a strong challenge from Nicola Emerson Unattached to secure third place.

Wye Valley Runners secured victory in both the men’s and ladie’s team event. Wye Valley’s winning men’s team was Flowers, Jehan and Fawcett. The winning ladies team was Machackova, Ruck and Shaw.

The Gord’s 6 race is organised annually by Wye Valley Runners in memory of Gordon Clements with all the proceeds of this years event going to Midlands Air Ambulance. The principal race organiser Paul Bouston was presented with the club’s Charity Fundraiser of the year award. Susie Godwin regional fundraiser for Midlands Air Ambulance also attended the event.

Wye Valley Runners wish to thank all the helpers, marshals and race sponsors for making this a successful race.

Gord's 6 Collection & Thanks

Collection for refreshment sales raised £57 for Midlands Air Ambulance. Many thanks to Susie Godwin from Midlands Air Ambulance for supporting the event and once again to Wayne Smith for taking the race photos.

Gords 6 Final Briefing

Only a few days to go now to the  Gords 6 2015. Still time to enter - Just!

Parking will be  available adjacent to The Green Man/Wye leisure complex (HR1 4PE). Could those people who have kindly volunteered as marshals please arrive by 10:00 latest so they can then walk from the parking area to race HQ at the football club across the field ready for their briefing.

Gord's 6 Race

Just received confirmation that Susie Godwin Regional Fundraising Manager for Midlands Air Ambulance will be attending the Gord's 6 race and will be looking to get some photos of runners holding up banners before the race to post on the Air Ambulance web site. Also Susie would like to take the opportunity to thank all those that have been fundraising for Midlands Air Ambulance in person. Many thanks to you all for your support

We are looking for some additional volunteers to help marshal the race. If you can help please contact Paul Bouston or Sally Ware.

i)              Wed May 13th – Belmont Park.

ii)             Monday June 15th – 3 Elms pub / The Range / Stretton Sugwas Priory.

iii)            Wed July 15th – Bunch of Carrots.

iv)            Monday August 3rd – Burghill / Tillington.

v)             Monday Aug 24th or Wed Aug 26th – date and route to be agreed.

Alternative runs are very popular, with the running distance between 5-7 miles

Half Marathon Water Station Volunteers Wanted!

St Michael's Hospice are one again asking Wye Valley Runners to look after the water station on the Canon Pyon Road on Sunday 10th May for the half marathon. If you aren't running and can spare a couple of hours it would be great to get a group together. Danca's Charity Work - Out Night

Danca and David's charity work out night at Much Birch village hall raised an incredible £147.50 for our charity of the year Midlands Air Ambulance. It was a fun filled night of exercise, tea and cakes. It was really kind of Danca and David to organise such a special event and we wish to thank them both so much for all their hard work. The overall total for the year as now reached £947.99 plus proceeds from Muddy Woody Entries.

Super 10 - results after Race 1.

Race one of the summer club Super 10 saw a very strong field of Wye Valley vests competing against some of the regions quickest people around. The Couries 5k course provided a fast start to the season for all -  in near perfect conditions.

It's early days, but congratulations to the immediate pole position holders James and Daneen. However, there are a lot of contenders for the top slot  this year with all to play for. Remember you need to race in 10 of the 17 chosen races. Next up is Shobdon Wood 6 on April 19th.

Wye Valley Super 10 Club Championship - get ready!

Race one of the 2015 club Super 10 is almost on us. All you have to do is  race at least 10 events between now and September(from a list of 16)

We award points based on your position in each race - 50 to winner, 49 second and so on. Lads and lasses have separate championships.

Prizes to winners presented at the AGM. Monitor your performance against club mates of similar ability as the summer progresses

Starting off with the Couriers Classic 5k race on 8th April at 715 from the Leisure Centre.

Club Subscriptions 2014/15

Just a polite reminder to you all that membership subscriptions for 2014/15 were due last November and it is really important that those that have for one reason or another not been able to arrange payment do so as soon as possible. Most importantly If you have not paid your membership fee you are not covered by UKA insurance on club runs. To renew your membership please download a form from the club web site. If in any doubt please email club treasurer davesherwood99@aol.com.
